A Look at the PlayBook Pairing Sequence With Your BlackBerry Smartphone

So hopefully by now you know that the BlackBerry PlayBook actually gets tethered to your BlackBerry smartphone, in order to use core BlackBerry functions, such as BBM, Email, and Calendar. Once the PlayBook is available you will have to download an app from BlackBerry App World, and basically pair your device to the PlayBook. You will be able to pair any BlackBerry smartphone running OS 5.0 or higher simply by scanning a 2D barcode (just like adding a BBM contact). Once you’ve added your smartphone to the PlayBook you will have access to the core functions like push email and BBM. Sadly it doesn’t seem like you will able to use BBM over Wi-Fi :(
