RIM squishes Poor Battery Life Rumor on BlackBerry PlayBook…
Back a couple of days ago, rumors starting circulating that RIM might delay the BlackBerry PlayBook due to poor battery issues. Well it seems that RIM wasn’t too happy about that, and immediantely fired back with an official statement regarding the rumor. Here’s what they had to say:
“Any testing or observation of battery life to date by anyone outside of RIM would have been performed using pre-beta units that were built without power management implemented. RIM is on track with its schedule to optimize the BlackBerry PlayBook’s battery life and looks forward to providing customers with a professional grade tablet that offers superior performance with comparable battery life.”
So it sounds like RIM is still working very hard to get the PlayBook’s QNX powered OS optimized for the tablet, but they don’t foresee any sort of delays just yet. We’re hoping to get some more details on the PlayBook at the Consumer Electronics Show (CES) on January 6-9, 2011… Let’s wait and see.
