I always get asked about iTunes and your BlackBerry. Yes, in the BlackBerry Desktop Manager there’s an option for syncing. But what if it could be easier than even that? This is where Music WithMe comes into play. It syncs your iTunes library wirelessly and automatically so you can enjoy your iTunes anywhere, no iPod or iPhone required.
Music WithMe is available in the BlackBerry App World for $14.99. There is a free one month trial available. The application works with OS 4.5 and above. It was actually updated so that it would support the BlackBerry Torch 9800 and the native OS 6.0.
This is the description from the BlackBerry App World:
Here are the Music WithMe Key Features:
- Leveraging smartphone’s multitasking ability provides automatic sync even when app is not open
- “Set it and Forget it”- Music WithMe saves playlists selection and syncs automatically
- Sync iTunes music using WiFi or cellular connection even when outside the home network
- Create and amend playlists in iTunes and all changes automatically reflected on smartphone
- Uses the cloud to readily access iTunes tracks and download to the phone’s memory once playlist selection is made
Here’s the Press Release:
Louisville, KY – August 12, 2010 – ParkVu, innovators in making media truly mobile, today announced Music WithMe availability on the new Research in Motion (RIM) BlackBerry Torch 9800. BlackBerry Torch smartphone owners can now get all their iTunes* music on their smartphone via a cellular or Wi-Fi connection, even when they are on the go. As a perfect complement to the BlackBerry Torch’s enhanced media player, Music WithMe offers a slick and seamless way for smartphone owners to download and store their favorite music on their phone.
“With Music WithMe on the BlackBerry Torch, BlackBerry owners can safely put aside their secondary portable music playing device and use their smartphone to access and store all their favorite iTunes music,” said Terry Goertz, co-CEO of ParkVu. “Music WithMe’s native OS 6 support allows for wireless sync anytime, anywhere and an exciting playback experience on a revamped media player that will appeal to music aficionados everywhere.”
Utilizing the BlackBerry Torch’s dual keyboard and touchscreen functionality, Music WithMe allows users to quickly view and manage their iTunes playlists on their device. With just a touch of the screen, users can choose which iTunes playlists they want synced to their device and can watch as their tracks are being downloaded direct to the native media player.
The BlackBerry Torch’s media player with new graphical user interface means that all iTunes tracks synced with Music WithMe will be played back with full album art. Users can sort through the tracks in their playlist and quickly decide which song to play. Tracks are stored directly on the device and with the BlackBerry Torch’s expanded storage capacity, users can sync an almost limitless amount of their iTunes music.
With Music WithMe users create and amend their playlists as normally within iTunes on their Windows machine. All playlist changes are automatically synced with their smartphone, enabling users to see their latest playlist updates. Music WithMe also supports playlist folders, by selecting the playlist folder on the Music WithMe app all the tracks contained within those playlists are downloaded.
Music WithMe runs in the background and leverages the smartphone’s multitasking ability providing automatic sync even when the app is not open. When the desired playlists are selected, the settings are stored directly on the device. Users can view their synced playlists within the media player and play their iTunes music as normally.
You can find more information on Music WithMe on the BlackBerry App World where you can download the trial or purchase the app. The only bad comments I saw were about no longer using an iPod because the BlackBerry replaces it with the ability to keep your music, so you can have your BlackBerry and iTunes too.
