During WES 2010, the CrackBerry team got some time to sit down with Mike McAndrews, RIM’s VP of Product Marketing. During their conversation they had time to discuss RIM’s upcoming USB Power Plug, which basically just allows you to connect your USB cable to charge your device. Apparently RIM plans to make the new USB Power Plug standard in all boxes, and plans to axe wall chargers. This move is pretty similar to what Apple has always done with the iPhone.
The new BlackBerry USB Power Plug is expected to launch in box with the BlackBerry Pearl 3G, and then any future models that may come along. With any luck existing BlackBerry owners should be able to pick up this little adapter from the BBSync Store within a few weeks/months of its launch.
