I know I’ve heard of babies being blessed, homes and people being blessed, even pets and certain articles, but a BlackBerry? Yes, I kid you not, a BlackBerry. A reverend in the UK actually took Plow Monday and blessed the BlackBerry devices of the parishioners. Wonder if he televises his blessings.
Now the BlackBerry devices weren’t the only devices blessed, there were also laptops and other electronic gadgets. The blessing was done in a venerable British Church, St. Lawrence Jewry Church, the official Church of the Corporation of the City of London by Rev. Canon David Parrott. It was to remind the parishioners that God’s grace reaches out in many ways.
Plow Monday was traditionally a day where the parishioners would drag their farm implements to the door of the church to be blessed. But since the church is located in the district miles from farms, the Rev decided to change it up a bit.
I don’t know about you, but I have to think sometimes we call our BlackBerry phones possessed when they act up, so I wonder if the blessing makes a difference at all. JK. But it goes to show how beloved our BlackBerry is.
