If you’re a fan of the Dilbert and New Yorker cartoons, we are about to make your day. First both comic strips are available as a “Cartoon A Day” calendar, but they’re also animated. It makes for a great and interesting way to look at each day. Personally, I’m a fan of Dilbert. Thanks to David, from Metranome, I’m really excited over this. Â The “Cartoon A Day” calendar is the first ever animated integrated calendar application and is the collaborative result of RingTales, a digital media content company that produces and syndicates animated video versions of world renowned comic strips, and Metranome, a leading mobile applications productions company. Free trial versions for a week’s worth or the full version for $9.99 for six months worth is available and downloadable from BlackBerry App World.
The calendars work really nice, enabling you to view the cartoon on the left, click on view to watch the cartoon, and can place your appointments in, view past days and cartoons, and even share the cartoon with someone by email.
Features it has are:
Daily agenda with appointments on the left.
The cartoon is at the right, click on view and view it in full screen animation.
Send the links to share with others by email.
And all the content is downloadable through cellular connection.
I installed the trial version of the Dilbert “Cartoon A Day” Calendar on my BlackBerry Tour 9630. The first and most important part to install and run these calendars is a microsd card. Without the card, the app will not fully install.
I have pictures of the app as it installed and the icon. At first the app gave the message about needing to install a microsd card, but after a few attempts it downloaded and installed fine. I loved the cartoon about the rock. It played and I sent it to James to share. I could view all the seven days on the calendar. The cartoons played out nicely and overall I loved it. I think for a fun cartoon that you may even find you can relate to, make your day, and have a laugh, but better yet, it’s functional by being able to add in times, appts, etc. I always liked the daily calendars, but to have it on your BlackBerry is even more fun, and to see it come to life was fascinating.
Something else that’s very impressive with the app is their customer service. They’re fast to address issues and solve them. It’s really nice to know someone has your concerns in mind. This would make a great Christmas gift too for that BlackBerry dependent friend or family member, or even coworker who like the Dilbert or New Yorker comics.
