BlackBerry Messenger 5.0 Now Official and Ready for Download!
UPDATE: If you’re having issues download it in App World, RIM has released an OTA download link: http://blackberry.com/messenger from your BlackBerry will download it.
After being leaked tons of times, RIM finally made the new upgraded BlackBerry messenger available. The new upgraded version of BBM can be downloaded for free in BlackBerry App World. Apparently the new version (5.0.0.33) is compatible with all current BlackBerry OS’ including most OS 5.0 leaked versions. So grab your BlackBerry and go into App World or visit the App World site here.
New Features Include:
- Avatars can be easily set up and then populated from BlackBerry Contacts
- Group Functionality – allows groups of friends, family and personal contacts to stay connected & share experiences instantly on their BlackBerry smartphones:
- ongoing group chat
- sharing pictures
- organizing tasks and events with shared lists and calendars
- Bar-code identity – easily add/invite contacts to BlackBerry Messenger by displaying a 2-dimensional bar code that the invitees can capture with their BlackBerry camera
- Large Media File Transfer – up to 6MB
cool.. just installed this bbm v5. not like those beta version that have so many problems after installing. this new bbm v5 runs very smooth…

ok, i have the leaked 5.0.0.8 Should I still down the 5.0.0.33 I’m not having any issues. Which one is the Latest Version.

Yes I would strongly recommend getting the new one. .33 looks different and is official, unlike .8 which was an early beta.
I like the beta version better. The icons are so big I feel like I’m looking at one of those phones with the big buttons for old people. Wish I could get the beta version back :-(
The pior version is better than the 5.0.0.33. The new version strips the “show when Im on the phone selection”
Installed on 8700…but how does one view the menu????? the options????
