BlackBerry Storm 2 shall be 9550, getting ready for CDMA networks, plus 9520 for Rogers and AT&T

bbstorm2-1

I somehow missed this story on the weekend. Boy Genius is reporting that the BlackBerry Storm 2 will be modeled 9550, and will be heading towards Verizon, Vodafone, Bell and Telus. The new Storm 2 is said to bring RIM’s next generation “SurePress” touchscreen with CDMA/Rev. A radio, Quad-band GSM, HSDPA, plus Wi-Fi, GPS, and a 3.2 megapixel camera. It’s going to be a feature packed device sporting OS 5.0 and a high resolution 360×480 display. But wait there’s more! Boy Genius is reporting that the North American GSM model (9520) will be part of the Storm 2 family, and make its way to AT&T and Rogers with a 3G radio. Both models (9550 and 9520) should be heading across the World later this year.

Specs on the Storm 2 “9550″:

  • CDMA 1xRTT/EVDO Rev. A
  • Quad-band GSM/EDGE
  • Single-band UMTS/HSDPA (2100MHz only)
  • Wi-Fi b,g
  • 3.2 megapixel camera
  • 360×480 resolution capacitive screen
  • OS 5.0

What do you think? Will you try out the Storm 2, after the mixed reviews on the orginal Storm?

x-mini-2_box-300x225[1]

Thanks to George from BlackBerryInsight who let us know about a really interesting review of a great accessory, the X-mini II. It’s a big sound in a little package. It’s a round black speaker that plugs into your BlackBerry and plays loud. The kit comes with everything you need.

It includes bass and woofer, and the sound is boomtastic. It’s battery life is around 12 hours, so you can take that to the beach even. What are you waiting for? Here’s what I really like, the price is only $34.50. Not bad for having a boombox that you can fit in your palm. For more information and to read the review, you can head on over to BlackBerryInsight.

Compatible with: 81xx Pearl series,  82xx Pearl Flip series, 83xx Curve series, 8900; 9000 Bold; 95xx Storm series; BlackBerry Tour 9630.

The BlackBerry Speaker Test – Comparing Tour, Bold, Storm, Curve 8900

Here is a great video which Ronen from BerryReview found. This video compares all the latest BlackBerry models (Curve 8900, Bold, Storm 9530, and Tour 9630) and their speakers to see which one sounds the best. I don’t think I’ve ever seen a video quite like this, the creator rates them side by side using the same music demo. It appears that the Bold may still have the best speaker, followed by the hot new Tour. Check out the video for youself and let us know what you think…

Shazam: Now Ready For The BlackBerry Storm!

Shazam

Thanks Claudia for sharing that Shazam is now available for the BlackBerry (NSDQ:RIMM) Storm. The official announcement will be public come Monday. The app is going to be available so long as you are able to download and browse the BlackBerry App World. Shazam is a really unique app for what it does.

Shazam is really impressive, and for those who don’t know what it is I’ll explain. You have Shazam downloaded and installed on your phone. You hear a song on the radio and you really like the song but don’t who made the song and want to know or would even like to have it. Well next you open the app and hold the phone to the radio to hear the song. The app will search and retrieve the song and even present the opportunity to purchase it! I’ve tried it before and it’s very easy to use. Basically it’s a song ID app. There is a free trial to see what you think of it. It’s not 100% foolproof accurate, but it’s pretty close.

We’ll keep you posted of the announcement!
