BlackBerry Desktop Manager 5.0, It’s Here With The Tour and Ready!

bbdesktopmanager5point0[1]

There were a few surprises with the Tour, one being the Desktop Manager 5.0. This is the newest and latest BlackBerry Desktop Manager. We saw the manual how to use the 5.0 version, and we’re sharing it with you. The User Guide includes Connections, Backup and Restore, Email Settings, Device switched wizard, Abbreviation list, and legal notice.

In looking at it, I know the software that comes with the phone leaves a lot of questions. It’s a wonderful thing that Blackberry has the manuals and tutorials on their site to help you get through it and learn. I’ll have to try it out and let you know what I think of it, as the current version I’m using is v4.6, not 4.7. That version seems to work best for my Curve. Now the BDM isn’t available on RIM’s website yet for download, but give it time.

So check out the BlackBerry Desktop Manager v5.0 manual and see what you think.

Google Voice App for BlackBerry – Now Available for Download!

google-logo-2

I’ve been using Google Voice since it was GrandCentral back in the day. One of the things that lacked was an on device application to control your mailbox. Google has just introduced the new Google Voice for BlackBerry, which allows you to view and listen to voicemails, SMS (text message) people and place calls right from your BlackBerry. It’s a free application as long as you have a Google Voice account (which is currently by Invite Only). If you want to download the App head over to m.google.com/voice and get it.

Pandora For BlackBerry Is Now In Stereo: Upgrade Your Pandora And Enjoy!!!

Pandora

The newest version of Pandora for BlackBerry has just been released, v1.1 which also has improved audio quality. It now streams in stereo! I have used Pandora even before I had a BlackBerry, when it was the digital radio for your PC online. Pandora lets you choose your music by your favorite band or song, customizing a radio station for you.

Some of the new features of this version are:

  • Significantly better audio quality over mobile network – now using stereo AAC+ (HE-AAC) for both Wi-Fi and mobile connections
  • Listener preference option to select “High” quality stream over mobile network or “Normal” for slower connections. Both are stereo.
  • Create Station screen now has auto-complete functionality as you type
  • Added user preference option to enable or disable station auto-start
  • Moved “Log Out” from main menu into Options screen, it now shows the currently logged-in username
  • Visual overlay when changing volume; easier to see actual volume level
  • Application will check for correct application permissions on startup, and offer to set them to appropriate values if required
  • You can now get to the “Options” screen from the menus of both the Station List screen and the
    Now Playing screen
  • Reduced download size of app by about 30-40%

Bug fixes for this version are:

  • Fixed stream resume problem on some Storm devices after being interrupted by a system alert (phone call, SMS, email, etc)
  • Fixed bug where Wi-Fi capable devices without a SIM card or data plan were not able to use Pandora over Wi-Fi
  • Fixed reports of “low volume” settings not being low enough – the lower volume settings now go as quiet as possible before being muted
  • Fixed bug where album art may not have been displayed for some tracks
  • Mute button should now properly sleep the device when holding it down

What are you waiting for? Go upgrade your Pandora on your BlackBerry OTA at the Pandora website.

BlackBerry Tour 9630 OtterBox Cases – Coming Soon!

blackberry-tour-otterbox

I was checking in with my friends over at OtterBox, only to see that they’ve got some Tour cases coming soon! Looks like OtterBox plans on launching both the Impact Case (skin) and Defender Case for the new BlackBerry Tour 9630. The Impact Case (pictured left) is an alternative to RIM’s silicon case. It features more protection and a more wrap like feeling. It’s expected to be priced at $19.95.  The Defender Case (pictured right) will be the ultimate protection for the Tour, offering three layers of protection, plus a durable holster. Both items are expected to launch soon and will be available in our store. It’s expected to be priced at $49.95.

Wrap your BlackBerry® Tour™ 9600 series in this protective silicone case and head around the world. More than just a simple silicone skin, the Impact Series™ case offers added protection from bump and shock by adding inner coring to dissipate impact away from the device. All buttons, functions, and ports are fully accessible through this case, and it looks great wrapped around your BlackBerry Tour. It includes a self-adhering screen protector to protect your screen from scratches and smudges.

The OtterBox Defender Series™ for the BlackBerry® Tour™ 9600 series offers rugged protection for your smartphone. The Defender Series case will keep your phone protected from drops, bumps, dust and shock. All features, keys and ports are accessible through the case, providing you with a unique, interactive safeguard. Included with this case is a holster style swivel belt clip.

If you want to register to be notified when they launch visit OtterBox.com.

BlackBerry Storm 2 Dummy Phone Shows Up In Carriers System

    9550 Sku

It seems as though things are taking a step in the right direction for those of you that are patiently or not waiting for the release of the Storm 2. A picture of Verizon’s inventory screen has surfaced that shows a dummy or as some of you may refer to it as a display phone is in the carriers system. One can only hope that this means the actual phone itself is soon to follow.
