gwabbit_logo_official_lores[1]

Not only has Gwabbit managed to stay at number one, they have also increased growth by 150% in sales. That’s really saying something. I can tell you by my experience with the app, the reason it sells so well is because it works! And it works efficiently, easily, and most important it’’s fast. It runs $9.99 for a yearly suscription and worth every bit of it and then some.

As stated by the press release:

San Francisco, CA – July 21, 2009 – gwabbit, LLC, the only provider of automatic email contact management (ECM) solutions for the contact cloud today announced that gwabbit for BlackBerry is the number one paid application on BlackBerry App World’s “Professional and Business” category for the 8th straight week.  App World’s Professional and Business category includes such well-known apps as Bloomberg, SalesForce Mobile, and ZDNet. gwabbit automatically searches and identifies contacts embedded in emails on your BlackBerry smartphone, and adds or updates that information to your BlackBerry Contacts, in a single click.  gwabbit’s companion product for Outlook automatically captures contacts within Microsoft Outlook emails.

I really like the app and recommend it to those who receive emails they find important, want to save time adding contacts, and especially business consumers, and entrepeneurs. In case you missed the review of Gwabbit, read our Gwabbit review.  If you’re curious, try it out, find out what everyone else has been discovering. Don’t wait, Gwab your copy today!

Gwabbit is available in the BlackBerry App World, but also you can find it in the BlackBerry Sync Store as well.

ColorID v1.1.0 by Motek Mobile Allows You To Color Customize Your Messages

ColorID

When I saw the ColorID in the store, I knew it looked very interesting. The app allows you the ability to customize your contacts by giving colors to the calls, emails, and texts of your chosen contacts. You choose the colors and the contacts. So even if the phone is on silent, you can tell if you’re being called, txted, or emailed by your most important contacts.

Features include:

  • Assign LED colors for SMS messages, Email and Incoming Calls
  • Assign any one or two colors to the BlackBerry LED indicator
  • Select from 9 colors and combinations of them: Orange, Pink, Yellow, Green, Cyan, Blue, Purple, Red, White or none
  • Multiple phone numbers and email address ability for one color combination
  • Syncs with BlackBerry address book for easy additions!
  • Easy-to-use interface with preview functionality
  • Share with a friend feature
  • Setup wizard for first-time users

I downloaded and installed the app to my BlackBerry Tour 9630. It installed quickly, and after installation I did the battery pull. After installing, I looked for the icon which turned into a blue symbol which is made of a CID. The Banner comes out with Color ID See Who’s Contacting You. You use the option button and you get Send to a friend, Send us feedback, Edit, Add New, Delete, Disable, Enable All, Disable All, and Exit.

Choosing Add New gives you a black screen that progresses to grey at the bottom. You’re give a blank spot for the Name of your contact, Email (Add for more than one email), Phone numbers (Add for more in case you have mobile, lan, work, etc), Color 1 and Color 2. Then you get Preview, Save, and Cancel.  After you do that the contacts are displayed as the name and the little bar that alternates the color of the ID’s chosen.

Some of us work in careers where we either need the phone on silent, or we dwell on not using vibrate a lot since we treasure our battery life. So for the color id of the contacts, it’s nifty. Great when you’re in a movie, meeting, etc. It’s very easy to use, colorful, and foolproof. There is no help part, possibly because it’s so easy. But there is a link for feedback and to send to your friends. I don’t see this as a business application unless you use it for your family and close friends. I see this more as a fun way to be notified of messages and calls, but it would be really great if messenger were supported too, that would be a nice addition. There is a free trial available and I recommend you try it. I had fun with it, found it very helpful as there are times I need to silence my phone. Customer service is quite responsive in a timely manner as well, so that’s a nice bonus. As far as the app goes, it does do exactly what is stated: it’s color ID for calls, txts, and emails by your contacts as you decide.

You can download the Color ID v1.1.0 for $6.99 from the BlackBerry Sync Store here >

Google Adds Skype To Google Voice App For BlackBerry Smartphones

GoogleVoice_Voicemail[1]

The National Business Review released an article placing some detail on Google’s aim at Skype with the new voice app for BlackBerry. With the Google app, you now have the ability to call and text with your Google voice number, voicemail transcriptions, and even cheap international calls with Google’s low international rates.

Currently this app with the Skype is only available to US consumers, and only a select few, it’s clear to see it’s a move into Skype territory.

If you use more than one mobile phone, Google voice allows you to use one number for ALL of them, and also gives you the ability to make outgoing text messages and calls, along with the low international rates of Google that start at about $.02 per minute!

Google Voice actually integrates with your address book, allowing you to call from the phone, and the individual receiving the call sees your Google number, not your actual cell phone number. You can keep your cell phone number private in that way, keeping business from personal. You can see your call history, and using the transcription feature, read your voice mail. This is a neat feature, it actually displays the text of the voicemail and as you listen to it, it highlights each word like karaoke style.

Skype calling is only available in the WiFi areas unless your plan includes unlimited data. But you can call anywhere you have service.

So this is great for the international traveler as well, whether business or pleasure. If you have service and there is data coverage, the international plan of $10 a month will allow you to use the Google Voice without the international attendant charge.

Don’t worry, I’m sure it won’t be long before the app extends beyond the US.

A Theme You Can Tweet About: Tweme By Ninja Themes

8900

The theme is available for the BlackBerry phones with OS 4.5 and above, namely the 81xx, 83xx, 89xx, and 9000. I have to share these screen shots with you, I’ve used it on the Curve 8330 and the Pearl 8130 and the theme is impressive and vibrant. One of those themes you won’t believe is free. You can dress your BlackBerry and show your love for Twitter all at once.

Bold-activeBold-incBold-apps

Here are the features this theme includes:

  • Twitter-inspired wallpapers and fonts
  • Playful icons
  • Bottom dock is user-customizable
  • Hidden Today (on 9000/8900 ONLY)
  • Special icon slot for your favourite Twitter app (or “weather” icon, whatever)
  • ***
  • ***NOTE*** a battery pull is STRONGLY recommended after every theme install!
  • ***
  • NOTE TO ALL 83xx/88xx/87xx/81xx USERS: THIS THEME WILL ONLY WORK FOR OS 4.5! PLEASE DO NOT INSTALL UNLESS YOU KNOW YOUR BLACKBERRY OS VERSION!!!

Aren’t they colorful? Everything’s easy to find too. I’d like to introduce you to the designer of Ninja Themes, and give you some background information. He’s been designing themes since 2008. His interest in themes came about when he got his first Curve and he couldn’t find a theme that seemed to fit his interests, so he began to design his own. His first theme was red and black with red skulls, which was posted to the CrackBerry forums for download. He redesigned it later and a theme designer was created. “Ninja” says that 90% of the themes began as something he liked and then began to expand it to what others would like as well. He customizes the themes by terms of graphics, functionality, ease of use, and how the theme flow. Sometimes they are based on one central aspect. His themes do not include flasy hidden docks or cross bars, just a bright theme that is functional and easy to navigate. He loves art because it’s always changing, and looking at his themes they show. One thing he does ask, is that you donate to the SPCA. He’s an avid animal lover as well.

You can download the Tweme theme from the BlackBerry Sync Store for free here >

Compatible with OS: 4.6, 4.6+

Different versions of the Tweme are compatible with: 81xx Pearl series, Curve 83xx series, 87xx, 88xx, Curve 89xx, 9020 Onyx, and the 9000 Bold.

If you download it, let us know what you think. Warning: it’s addicting, and the Twitter bird will feel right at home nesting on your phone.
