Review: CropIt v1.2, Picture Cropping App By All Kapps Software

CropIt by All Kapps Software is giving the public something that leaves us wondering why this doesn’t come on a BlackBerry to begin with. It works, it’s easy to use, and it’s nice not to have to move the pic to my pc prior to posting it if it needs to be cropped.

It used to be that I would move my pics, crop them, and then post them, or just send them from my phone thinking it could have been better had I been able to crop it. Well, CropIt allows you to crop the pic prior to post. So now you don’t have to worry about that close up, and you can save the pics the way you’d like.

I was curious about the app and wondered why it was never included with the BlackBerry OS, with pictures, this would be a great feature! CropIt v1.2 is available through the BlackBerry Sync Store for $1.99 or you can try a free trial of it first.  The key details of this app are as follows:

  • Crop any picture on your phone
  • Customized save location on your Device or Memory Card
  • Save to JPEG or PNG
  • Quick crop with keyboard shortcuts
  • Undo your crop and try again
  • Preview crop area before cropping
  • Open pictures right from the picture browser
  • I installed this app on my Curve 8330. It installed quickly and runs smoothly. I like that it’s pretty easy to use, instructions are included in the app that clear and precise. When opening up the app, you come to a white screen with the simple words in black: CropIt. You are given three options: Open an Image; Settings; and About. In About, the instructions for using the app lay. It’s pretty easy, you find your pic with Open an Image and then you find the very top of where you’d like the pic to be and set an anchor point by using the options button. Make sure the anchor point is on the top left of the subject. Next, you will set an anchor point on the lowest point of the pic you would like on the right side. Set the anchor point and crop. Done deal, and now you can either save or start over. It’s really easy, pics look nice and you can send them as you do your other pics.

I found the app easy to use once I read the instructions. I used my pet to show how easy the app is to use. Step by step, from opening the pic, setting the anchor points, and cropping. The pros of this app are that for under $2 you can save yourself the hassle of using your pc to crop, and you are able to post pics quickly. This is especially handy if you have no pc available. It’s quick, small, and works like a charm. Once you purchase the app, you are able to receive all future upgrades for free. This is a great app for those who take a lot of pics and for those who only take a few but those few pics are prized.

For the simple and clear layout of the app, definitely five stars. It’s just simple and easy to find what you need. Navigating the app is easy. I find that the whole process is easy to use, but it relies on the fact you should read the instructions to figure it out. Especially if you download it and are in a hurry. But all in all, it’s nearly a five star app.

Pros: The price and upgrades are included for $1.99. It’s very easy to use with the detailed instructions. You are able to save or scrap and start over. No losing a pic by accident. It’s an asset for cropping your pics right there on your phone.

Cons: Not a con but I’d like to see an app that contains the cropping and minor photo tweaking for the BlackBerry. The only con it has is that if you don’t read the instructions, figuring out the app without knowing how it works might be a little tricky.

There are certainly a lot of details like that to take into consideration. That is a great point to bring up. I offer the thoughts above as general inspiration but clearly there are questions like the one you bring up where the most important thing will be working in honest good faith. I don?t know if best practices have emerged around things like that, but I am sure that your job is clearly identified as a fair game. Both boys and girls feel the impact of just a moment’s pleasure, for the rest of their lives.
