It took them long enough but Verizon finally launched an official OS update for their BlackBerry Storm. After testing out several OS versions it seems that Verizon finally feels 4.7.0.148 will have to do. Anyone with a Verizon branded Storm can download this much needed OS update by connecting their BlackBerry into Desktop Manager and clicking the Application Loader or on BlackBerry.com/update. As of now the OS is not listed on Verizon’s BlackBerry software page but it should be soon, so keep an eye on it.

It’s about time…I’m downloading it now.
Anyone have any luck with this?
It wasn’t listed earlier in the day Randy, but as of last night (6/1) some time it is available for download to install via Desktop Manager for both Personal and Corporate users.
I installed it on Monday. I had a HUGE improvement on my phone. My wife’s phone worked well before. Hers did not reload her contacts and stuff automatically, but I reloaded from the backup and it works great now.
Glad to finally have an update, hopefully my phone will be usable again. I was beginning to regret the switch from Nextel to Verizon to get a phone like this. I had a much better experience. Hopefully these updates will change my mind.
After the upgrade I started to suffer with dropped calls. The call would drop when the duration of the call exceeded one hour.
I’ve gone back to 4.7.0.75
