This review is on Picture Magic, version 1.23, which is an application by Magilab. The program is a photo editor that allows you to add the following: Text Bubbles; Balloons; Hats; Hair; Mouths; Arrows; and Text. It is available from the Blackberry Sync store for $7.99 and has a free trial available. You may try before you buy, but you’ll like the fun you can have with the pictures you take. There is no limit to the creativity you can discover with this program.

When I installed the application on my Curve 8330, I opened the application up and through it I was able to choose a picture either off the phone or the micro sd card. After opening the picture, you can open the following options: Help; Add Image; Add Text; and Close. The option Help has: Getting Started, Navigation, Add an Image, Add Text, and Removing an Item. It is very informative and important because it will help you to navigate through the program and options and how to accomplish the task you are trying to complete. Add Image allows you to add the images onto the picture. After you add an image you can click the options and your choices again are : Help, Add Image, Add Text, Remove Item, Save As, and Close. You can add as many as you’d like and save it, to be sent or uploaded. The pictures are very easy to add to, and you can make them festive for birthdays or fun, capture a silly moment with words in the text to be immortalized or just shown as a reminder of the moment. I took a picture of my boss at our weekly meeting and added a text bubble with text and sent it to her after saving it through our BlackBerry messengers. I played with my brother’s pic, our dog, no picture was sacred from the application and it can be addictive. I really had fun with this program and found it to be playful, and my coworkers and friends found it to be fun to see the finished pictures.
The Pros of the program are that it allows you to have fun with pictures right off your phone. It’s similar to a card program, adding text and cartoon drawings onto the pictures, being playful with the ability to send them afterwards to share them, or create them as your contact pictures, making them say hi, hello, or what other creative greeting you can think of.
The Cons of the program are that there is no picture effects or effects to enhance the picture, and changing it a little to make the picture clearer. It would be nice to even see a basic picture enhancer. It would be cute to see some other shapes for animal pics too.
For rating this program, for user friendliness, I give it four stars. It does take some reading into it to learn how to enlarge and shrink the shapes, and how to work the program.
For fun and originality, the program is 4.5 stars.
