SmrtGuard Beta gives your BlackBerry backup, tracking and remote wiping!

March 25, 2009 | By | 10 Comments

For the past few days I’ve been testing a new application called SmrtGuard. This application allows you to backup and restore pretty much all of your device’s information including phonebook, call logs, emails, memo pad, etc. Not only that but SmrtGuard also allows you to track your BlackBerry in case you loose it and even perform a remote wipe to erase your BlackBerry of all data. SmrtGuard also performs daily or weekly backups so you don’t have to do it manually. This software basically provides similar functions to a BES server in terms of backup and security.

SmrtGuard is currently available in public beta as a free download. The final service will end up costing we just aren’t too sure how much yet. To test out SmrtGuard head over to and register.

you say you have been testing it out……What did you think of it??????? DID THE REMOTE WIPE WORK? How was it? Where is the review?

  • James

Nick there is no review as of yet. I’m still testing the application. So far the backup process seems to work very well. We probably will not write a full review until the software is official and out of beta testing.

This is by far the BEST security for a Blackberry I’ve ever seen! Possibly even the best for any phone!! Remote wiping?! Unheard of! Remote alarm activating (tested and works)!!

The only thing that could make this a better app is if they could wipe the SD Card also. Or maybe just render it useless. Its great that the data can be wiped and make the phone useless, but I would like to know that my pics, videos and documents will be unvailable to whomever also.

Well worth the price whatever they charge for the peace of mind!

Didn’t work at all on verizon storm 9530
    It would remote ping alarm
And backup contacts but as for
    Everything go..

No location or tracking or sat view on website
Really a useless app until it is fully functional

I’m running os .109 on Unlocked Verizon Storm 9530

they’re no longer taking beta users

I would love to try this, but what is the battery life like when it’s installed? I saw someone note that this app drained their battery. I would be happy to pay the monthly cost for the service, but not if the battery is drained in the process.
