The Gizmodo team got their hands on a AT&T branded BlackBerry Curve 8900 (aka Javelin) for review. If you check out Gizmodo you will see a bunch of high resolution pictures and a mini review of the the device. This also appears to be the first AT&T branded pictures seen of the Curve 8900. Here’s a quick blurb from their review:

The Bold is more substantial, exuding “executive” to the Curve 8900’s “middle manager” or “normal person.” It’s clearly more powerful, and has a bigger screen. The keyboards are way different, too—personally, I prefer the Bold’s larger, squishier keys to the Curve’s smaller, stiffer ones. But obviously, the biggest thing is 3G. The Bold has it, the Curve 8900 doesn’t, and we missed it sorely.

Knowing that AT&T will be releasing the Blackberry Javelin 8900 (Curve) and it not being in 3G, I strongly suggest to all not to purchase it! The U.S. is so far behind in communication technology that it is not even funny. I travel to europe and asia very much and those countries have 4.5G highspeed. That is what the companies in the U.S. (AT&T especially need to use. We need quality not quantity. AT&T are looking at units sold versus quality of service and product. All of our communication devices need to be on the 3.5G networks period.

Think about that before you purchase!

Please keep in mind one thing before you make the mistake and purchase the Javelin 8900. Would you want your device to access the internet with ripping speed of 3.5G or be a Dinosaur and taking sometimes up to 2 minutes just to get a single web page? If it isn’t 3.5G do not purchase it!

Please, I say this due to my travels all over the world.

whatever, 3G eats battery life. i don’t plan on watching hour-long videos in highdef or stupid crap like that anytime soon. there is something to be said for the simplicity, low cost, and relative weightlessness of the curve.

I agree…the fact that this phone is not 3G is mind-blowing. It should be a standard these days and the fact that the bold went 3G and the next-gen curve did not is odd. To Thomas…3G may use more power but blackberry phones have a notoriously long battery life and the difference between a 3G phone and non-3G phone would not be very noticeable unless you were constantly surfing the web. (It would still hold out significantly longer than the iphone…ha!) Having a 3G phone is necessarily for watching videos or “stupid crap like that”, its about the convenience. These phones are meant to be used to access the internet and get email and therefore should use the best and latest technology available to do so. If you are not looking to use your phone for this…then the blackberry’s are probably not for you.

okay, no one cares about speed really. We want good quality phones and thats all that matters. it has wifi.. most people here have wifi so yeah. ITS A GOOD PHONE BUY IT!

    just not with tmob!

I just asked our ATT rep and he said June 1st is the launch date.

I don’t teather or do much surfing on my bb so i’ll probably get it.
