Imagine Signing into BlackBerry Messenger…

August 10th, 2008 | 7 Comments | Posted in BlackBerry, General, Software

So I know I’m not the first person to think about this but I change my BlackBerry about every 3-6 months. I also have come to get a lot of contacts on my BB Messenger. The biggest pain about changing BlackBerries is that everytime I do a backup/restore or switch device wizard my BB messenger contacts get all messed up.

Wouldn’t it be so much better if RIM designed BlackBerry Messenger to auto-sign into an account when your device is turned on, similar to RIM’s MSN, AIM, Yahoo!, or Google Talk applications. One PIN for life would be amazing!! Anyways its very rare I write little blurps like these on the site but I just think it would be such a great idea.

Anybody else agree?

I concur. The most frustrating thing to me is changing devices. I break mine as often and it is as annoying.

I was just thinking about this the other day! While I love the PIN idea… it should be like your online ID which never changes, and is linked to a virtual account, rather than the BB hardware itself! Maybe one day…

I can see advantages and disadvantages of having a “PIN for life” that follows a person (rather than a device). I too find it a royal pain whenever I or any ‘berry buddy switches devices to have to redo PINs.

That’s why I don’t pin. Its too much trouble to keep Pin numbers up to date.

I agree except mine does it all the time it keeps stating that I changed my device even though I have not.
