RIM is light years ahead of apple with some of their technology and applications that can run on the blackberrys. The touch screen of apples is not new technology and no patents are filed yet and the chinese have had this of sorts for years. RIM will surpass apple by the end of the year if they release the 9500 on time.

Looks good. Software is not very responsive though but one should expect this at this level of development. Also, it’ll take RIMM at least 2 years to catch Apple in having a stable responsive touch screen. The important think is that they are commited to competing and they have rightly identified Apple is the smart phone leader and defacto standard to design upto. They have lossed their edge but have sufficient following to right the ship but it will take time. It’ll get worst before Apple it better.
