OK HERE IS THE SOLUTION TO YOUR HOTMAIL EMAILS ON YOUR BB…I have the 8830 world edition for verizon…Basically, i’ve tried it all and the answer is this link
http://get.live.com/mailplus/features
You must upgrade to windows hotmail live plus for $19.99/yr. Then add and/or re-add your hotmail on your BB (using email setup on your BB) and YOU ARE READY to go!…it worked perectly for me! good luck!
I did the windlowslive procedure, but still unable to add the hotmail account on BB.
Plz suggest anyother solution.
I have T Mobile and I upgraded my hotmail account to Plus and I was still unable to add the account on my BB.
I then decided to forward my messages to my BB email. Before I upgraded to Plus I was unable to forward to any other server except MSN providers.
Now that I upgraded, I am able to forward the email to any provider and keep copies in my hotmail account.
I tested it with an email to myself and I recieved it on my phone instantly. Thats good enough for me.
Cont….. The above action is also great for those who do not need internet service on your phone.
I only need emails sent to me so this saves money from having a plan that calls for internet access.
you can not forward your hotmail account to another email account unless its a hotmail, msn or live account..
I was able to get to my hotmail account from my blackberry by doing the following:
1) On your blackberry web browser, press menu key and select Go To… from the drop down and enter mobile.msn.com
2) On the mobile web page select the Hotmail link in upper left corner of web page (it’s the first link)
3) In the Windows Live Id page select the first link: @hotmail.com
4) In the next page enter your email address in the first box (i.e. fontaic for me). You don’t have to enter the .hotmail.com portion
In the next box enter your password and click the “sign in” link
5) You should now be in your hotmail account (click the blackberry menu button and select Add Bookmark from the drop down)
ok.. The Options as i have found with my Verizon BB Pearl are:
1.) Using the phones Browser type http://www.mobile.live.com Then enter you e-mail and password.
2.) Pay the $20/yr for the Plus Access.
3.) Foward your e-mail from your Hotmail Acct. to another Acct accessable through your BB.
Viper:
You can forward it to any email if you pay to upgrade your free account to a “Plus” account which costs $19 a year.
Once again, I have the Verizon 8830 BB World Edition. All I had to do was upgrade to the “plus” hotmail and then AFTER you have, just go to “set up wizard” on your BB and add your email account. I did not have to FWD anything, it comes the same way as my Yahoo. It worked for my brother as well yesterday. Good luck!
I set mine up using the blackberry.orange.co.uk site and i can send and receive from my hotmail! good times!
Addes my Hotmail into BIS. French characters in e-mails don’t appears correctly and are replaced by ‘?’.
Normal ?
Hey If you go to http://www.msn.com then click hotmail you can sign into your account and check emails.
i did everything what Charlie said and work : )
Thank you!
ok i had the same issues with my hotmail and my blackberry nothing will fix this combo, but i found a way to go around it, get a windows live id(you@live.com) then go to your hotmail acct options and forward your emails to your windows live acct, then on your blackberry delete the hotmail acct. then add your new windows live acct, and you will get your emails in about 10mins no joke it works!you might want to change accts to windows live anyway!
For Incoming Mail Server, is Host Name pop3.live.com?
For Outgoing Mail Server, is SMTP Server smtp.live.com?
mail.live.com – i didnt need an upgraded account, have the 8830 on sprint and i logged right in.
Worked like a charm, thank you thank you thank you!!
Hey everyone, I’ve been trying to sync my hotmail account to my curve last sept but it didn’t work. I just tried the trick but I couldn’t see the tools tab on my webpape. So I attempte3d to sync once more through my phone and it worked. Wow..crazy.
I am in London, and trying to get hotmail sent to the blackberry but (1) cannot upgrade to hotmail plus using a UK credit card – has anyone outside the US been able to get hotmail plus?? and (2) despite the instructions, cannot find the options tab in hotmail which takes me in to these options. I can find one on the toolbar but it does not have “maintenance” under “advanced”. HELP please! thanks
wow i dont get why at all but the tip at the top worked a treat! its a free hotmail account i have, maybe worth mentioning ive had it about 10 years give or take, ive read elsewhere that older accounts are slightly different, maybe thats why.. thanks for whoever figured that out anyway!!
This is great worked perfectlty!!! I love this, ive been waiting for an year to have hotmail on my phone and i finnaly got it! Whats also great that i didnt know is that you can see attachment like word and powerpoint documents!
Will this technique cancel out accounts I already have receiving email on my BB? Also I need to download windows live ON THE PHONE correct? Thanks!
Have you folks tried using the Blackberry Internet Service? Works just fine for me and I have the free account (same one I’ve had for eons). The way I add them is I go to http://sprint.blackberry.com and set up an account. After I have a Blackberry Internet Service account, I add my hotmail account and it works just fine.
I used these instructions and they worked perfectly. I’ve had my blackberry for nearly a year and didn’t want to add another email address to my list. Now that this works, I have access to my main email address right from my device. Yayyy
After reading all these replies, I need to know if I really need to purchase the Hotmail plus or can this actually be done somehow w/o having to forward to another email address which is a huge pain. I have my BB through Verizon and as everyone else described, cannot get my emails on my BB with my Hotmail account.. HELP! Thanks.
Is the agenda from hotmail compatible with the BB??
i logged on but am not able to download the software. help. I do have my hotmail set up on my blackberry, but it doesn’t synch properly. If I delete on my device, it updates hotmail, but when I delete a message on hotmail from the internet, it doesnt update my blackberry curve. I have AT&T Wireless.
I am recently having the same problem on my curve 8310 (AT&T). When I delete a message on my hotmail, it does not delete on my blackberry. Until a week ago this issue was not occurring. I called up AT&T yesterday & they put me thru to RIM. I was amazed that the person helping me at RIM had no idea that hotmail messages even opened on the device would reflect as opened on hotmail. I am wondering if this has something to do with the OS on the device. I hated OS 4.5 since it made the device extremely sluggish so I changed to OS 4.2 and ever since then I am having these issues.
You guys that are just “forwarding” are missing the point… if you can pair your account with your Blackberry, you can SEND messages from that e-mail, too. That helps out a lot when you’re in school and you have to use your official address (which is now LIVE) when messaging teachers and such, or with organizations and business.
Will upgrading the account to plus sync the mail appropriately i.e. will emails deleted on the web get automatically deleted on the handheld device?
Does windows live handle the properly or do I need to delete messages individually on the handheld device?
#17 from Charlie worked great – thanks!
I have an 8330 from Sprint and I have the same issue with syncing my Hotmail. Items deleted on the computer do not get deleted on the BB. Items deleted on the BB are deleted on the computer.
Any ideas?
Hi, I am having the same prob: when I read or delate an email from my BB, the change appears on my hotmail account when I log in via a web browser, but changes made while logged in on a web browser do not show up on the BB.
Any suggestion?
Can someone help me to find the “tool” button when signing into live/hotmail? i have been looking way too long and feel like it can’t be that difficult.
Thank you!
I have tried this but after logging in I cannot find the Tool button for the life of me. Can someone help me find it?
Thanks,
I don’t know what the big deal is. I set up a gmail account on the web and my curve. Forwarded all my hotmail messages to my gmail account, and changed the settings on my gmail account to “Reply to:” and “Sent from: “as my hotmail account.
Forwarding isn’t such a big pain, there is a slight delay but on the other hand, you have an automatic backup account.
Microsoft has added POP3 & SMTP support to their free email services. I’m currently using it with Entourage. I don’t see why it won’t work with the Blackberry now.
i have a problem – hope someone can help
i had an icon whereby i set up hotmail on my blackberry and using the same icon i could remove hotmail account. however it is a work fone and there was a change in policy which means that we cannot send hotmail but can receive.
the icon has disappered from my blackberry and what i want to do is remove the hotmail messages being received on my blackberry
can someone help?
apparently there is a way to do this
my email is jaz154@hotmail.co.uk
thanks
jaz
How about big rapper says dont read email, get outside and take a crap in the woods or something you lazy couch potatoes!
I tried it and when I downloaded windows live, it totally screwed up my hotmail account and now have no access to my inbox. It is asking me to create a new email account. And still doesn’t work on my blackberry.

1st comment above worked.
I am with the Fido Network.
Except, there was no POP button, so I clicked on everything (general, newsgroups….all of it)
and resent the service books off the blackberry site.
Voila!
Thanks for the tips!!!!
Is this all necessary? I just added my Hotmail account along with my Gmail account the regular way, using the internet email setup thing from the BB menu and I just put in the username and password and it automatically added and works fine.
This worked for me on my Curve 8330. After trying to simply log-in with my username and password and having no luck, I tried this and it worked like a charm! Thank you. :) (No extra steps for me really, I already had Windows Live Mail on my desktop, just had to change the settings).

Very nice information. Thanks for this. Hope you visit my site and post up some stuff :)
My favorite mobile phone is still Nokia. I found your blog on google and read a few of your other posts. I just added you to my Google News Reader. Look forward to reading more from you in the future.
I have Rogers in Canada and a Curve 8900. I guess the longstanding obstacles with Hotmail have been resolved because I was able to set up my Hotmail account through the usual BIS interface and mail gets pushed there instantly, just like with my Yahoo, GMail, and MobileMe accounts. The only account I have without instant push is on a university IMAP server, and even then I only have to wait a couple of minute.
Wasn’t there an upgrade to the BIS a few months back that was intended to resolve all these issues?
Had a Perl – wasn’t able to receive emails on my BB – I upgraded to the Curve and was told that I would be able to get the emails from MSN now. I went through Verizon and they activated the email – all was good on their end but still not able to get MSN mail pushed through. Is there any network settings within MSN that could fix this IE: copy on server and if so… how does this girl do that?
I have a BB Curve. Follow this steps:
1. Go to BROWSER
2. click on the applications button
3. Scroll down..look for OPTIONS
2. Click on Browser Configuration
3. Scroll down..look for Emulation Mode: if it says Blackberry..not gonna work!
4. Change it to Microsoft IE
5. Your HTML account should work! :)
