How to change your Pearl 2 trackball colour!
Every want to change the colour of your Pearl trackball? Well if you have an older Pearl 8100 you can download the colour ball application, however if you have a the new Pearl 2 (8110, 8120 or 8130) you can’t use that application. In order to change the ball on the 8130 you will have to do a physical mod (which won’t void you warranty if you use tape). How bad do you want to change the colour?

If you have a Pearl 8100 (the orginal GSM one) you can change the color with a simple application, such as http://www.geekandproud.net/blackberry-software/#ColorPearl
BUT if you have one of the newer Pearl 2’s such as 8110, 8120 or 8130 you can’t use this program. You will have to do the little trick above…

Hi, I did everything and installed the Blackberry app. But, I’m stuck on the last step. When I connected the USB cord to my phone it says unable to connect with my device. Any idea anyone?

perhaps you have a loose connection on your usb plug because that happened to me. check the connection and try again. i wen tthrough so much trouble just to get the trackball program and i installed it just realizing now that it doesn’t work with the 8110! that is really ironic because i just upgraded from an 8100 to get the GPS; u cant have it all i guess

How do you replace the 8110s trackball for a 8100.
I have both phones, is it easy to do?
Thanks in advance

Changing the ball from a 8100 to an 8110 will not do anything. The Led’s behind the ball are what change and the 8110 doesn’t even have those. So you can color the light behind your ball or you can color your ball.
