Well its about time but Research In Motion (RIM) and Alcatel-Lucent have signed an agreement for the distribuation of BlackBerry handhelds in China. The first BlackBerry smartphone to ship to China will be the classic BlackBerry 8700, then most likely followed by some newer models.
“Following our launch of the BlackBerry service with China Mobile, we are very pleased to now enter this smartphone distribution agreement with Alcatel-Lucent and Alcatel Shanghai Bell. Our partnership with Alcatel-Lucent has been very productive in other regions and has been key in our progress to import smartphones into the Chinese market,” said Jim Balsillie, Co-CEO of Research In Motion. “The BlackBerry platform offers robust and unmatched benefits for enterprise customers that wish to enhance mobile productivity and competitive advantage. We look forward to building on the early interest and momentum we are experiencing in China with both multinational and domestic corporations.”
Mobile Burn got their hands on T-Mobile's new BlackBerry Curve 8320. The BlackBerry Curve 8320 sports Wi-Fi for T-Mobile's T-Mobile @ home network. Overall they didn't have too many complaints about the device, just small things such as the OS appearance and browser. They did have lots of great things to say about the device such as great size, the 3.5mm headphones jack, the trackball, and of course Wi-Fi. Anyways check out the full review over at Mobile Burn.
Keep in mind you can now pick up the BlackBerry Curve 8320 from T-Mobile in two colors (titanium and pale gold) now for only $249 with two year contract.
Rumors are now flying of RIM's next series of devices. According to BG, RIM has acquired several new domains for their upcoming 9xxx series of devices. The 9000 series devices are said to be a fully touchscreen device to compete with the Apple iPhone. Anyways the domains RIM owns now are:
Something we missed posting about a few days ago. Windows Live has released a new version of Live Search for BlackBerry devices. Windows Live allows you to search, get maps, directions, check traffic and check movie times locally. At this time its available for people in Canada and the United States. To get Live Search simply point your BlackBerry browser to http://wls.live.com.
Jibi over at BGR had a chance to take a sneak peak at the new BlackBerry Desktop Manager 4.3, which is due out soon. This new version of Desktop Manager doesn't appear to feature too many new features except a new updated look, updated Intellisync and updated Roxio media manager.
Most likely we will see the release of this new Desktop Manager with the upcoming launch of the BlackBerry 8120/8130, which will launch with OS 4.3.0.

Sprint has announced the November launch of the highly anticipated BlackBerry Pearl 8130. While pricing and other details aren't available as of yet you can register for updates via email on Sprint's site.
Looks like AT&T's GPS-enabled BlackBerry Curve 8310 will pop up in two different colors (Crimson Red and Titanium) according to the Boy Genius. The BlackBerry 8310 in both colors is due out later this week on AT&T. Check back later in the week for live pictures of the new Crimson Red Curve. There is no word on if T-Mobile will get their Curve 8320 in Crimson.
