RIM files Auto speaker phone detection patent

RIM has just filed for an interesting patent in the United States. You all know how simple it is for you to switch to speaker phone mode with most newer BlackBerry devices. You simply just press the $ key during the conversation, well RIM has decided they want to make that even easier. A recent patent that was filed by RIM entitled "System and methods for adaptively switching a mobile device's mode of operation" allows your BlackBerry to detect whether the device is against you ear on set down. When your device isn't againest your ear during a conversation it automatically switches to speaker phone mode. It's a neat feature who knows if we will ever see it in one of their devices though.
